The vision of Career & Technical Education (CTE) is to provide Monroe County students the opportunity to participate in a rigorous and relevant career and technical education program that leads to academic achievement and successful employment in a global economy.
Tennessee’s Career & Technical Education consists of 16 nationally recognized career clusters with the ultimate goal of preparing students for success at the post-secondary level and in their chosen careers.

“CTE: Learning that works for America” Video
Nationwide, Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are changing, evolving and innovating to better serve the country’s needs. CTE is preparing students of all ages to help drive America’s success and vitality. This video summarizes the national efforts behind the CTE: Learning that works for America initiative.
“CTE: Making the Difference” Video
CTE is leading positive change in secondary, postsecondary and adult education, with innovative programs that are making a difference nationwide. CTE: Making the Difference is a high-energy 3-minute video highlighting the many ways CTE is working for America by improving high school graduation rates, lowering drop outs rates, and increasing the number of students going on to college.

Tennessee’s Career Clusters are organized into 16 broad categories that encompass virtually all occupations from entry through professional levels and are aligned with the U.S. Department of Education’s structure of Career and Technical Education. Career Clusters identify the knowledge and skills needed to follow a pathway toward career goals and provide a context for exploring the many occupational options available. Note that each cluster is divided into different pathways that are grouped by the knowledge and skills required for occupations in these career fields.
